The Newcastle & Hunter Region German Shepherd Dog Club NSW Inc. is dedicated to the preservation, protection and advancement of the German Shepherd Dog.
Our club proudly supports the principles, breed standards and breeding frameworks established by the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia (GSDCA), Dogs NSW and Dogs Australia.
We are committed to promoting responsible breeding practices, breed health, sound temperament, structural soundness and working ability in accordance with these recognised standards.
Our club welcomes German Shepherd Dogs registered with Dogs Australia, together with German Shepherd Dogs entering through recognised rescue pathways.
We recognise the importance of providing appropriate support, education and training opportunities for German Shepherd rescue dogs and their owners, while maintaining our commitment to the preservation and integrity of the breed.
Our dedication to the welfare of individual German Shepherds goes hand in hand with our responsibility to protect the future of the breed.
Our History — Generations of Dedication
The Newcastle & Hunter Region German Shepherd Dog Club traces its beginnings to the 1970s. A GSDCA club profile records its foundation in 1974, led by founding president Roy Mepham and secretary Ron Fraser, alongside enthusiasts committed to training and exhibiting German Shepherd Dogs.
From those beginnings, the club developed a proud history of breed education, exhibitions and volunteer service throughout Newcastle and the Hunter Region. Its contribution has included hosting major national events and supporting the wider German Shepherd Dog community.
